Strength, durability and stylish good looks are provided through the aluminum chassis. The lightweight material means that it is less likely to be bent, warped or dented than other materials.

Tougher Glass
Added strength and smoothness are provided by the Corning Gorilla Glass NBT touchscreen and Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad. Gorilla glass provides greater toughness and scratch resistance for the display, and for the touchpad it provides a slicker smoother feel than regular plastic.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2021Screen: Excellent: bright with vivid colors. The 3:2 aspect ratio gives you a lot more screen area than most 13" laptops.
Keyboard: Excellent: good key travel & tactile response. IMO on par with Thinkpad and pre-butterfly switch Macbook Pro keyboards.
Trackpad: Very good: smooth and accurate. 1 and 2 finger operation works perfectly. 3 finger gesture recognition has somewhat higher latency, but works well once you get used to it.
Stylus & digitizer: The Wacom EMR digitizer screen is the reason I chose this device. The core functionality is excellent, with low latency (in properly written apps), good pressure and tilt response. Overall, drawing feels significantly better than the Surface Pro 2 (the last Wacom EMR device I used). At the time of writing, I haven't been that pleased with any of the web-based drawing applications with stylus support that I've found, but ChromeOS runs Android apps now, and apps like Autodesk Sketchbook run surprisingly well. The included stylus is just OK: it's convenient because it docks into a slot in the chassis, but unlike some Wacom EMR styluses it doesn't have any eraser or on-pen click buttons. The screen appears to be somewhat compatible with other Wacom styluses, but I have seen some parallax issues using an older stylus.
OS: This is common to all ChromeOS devices, but many people don't realize that ChromeOS runs both Android apps and, on devices like this one, even native Linux apps (search on the web for "linux on chromeos"). Not all apps work well (Android Studio, for example, is somewhat crashy). Also, Android and Linux windows behave differently from browser tabs, so it's not totally seamless. But it's still useful.
NOTE: Be sure you receive the right device! At least one seller on this site is shipping CP713-2W models under the item listing for a CP713-1WN-53NF. Spin 13 model numbers beginning with CP713-1WN have a Wacom EMR stylus, and had a significantly more expensive MSRP than Acer's "second generation" Spin 713 models (which only have USI support), which begin with CP713-2W. If you receive a device without an included stylus and Wacom display when you ordered a CP713-1WN, then you should demand a full refund.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2020I wanted to get a feel for everything a Chromebook was capable of and how good an experience it could be, so I went looking for one with a broad feature set, generous configuration, and was of high quality.
After looking at dozens of Chromebooks and more reviews than I can remember, I settled on the 2019 Acer Spin 13.
- It has every desirable feature I've found on any Chromebook (or most laptops) except for an HDMI port and bio-metric (Facial or Fingerprint) login.
-From a configuration perspective it's in the top 10 performers for the year and it’s a real beast with a U series quad core processor (most Chromebooks use the dual core varieties) I tried to slow it down driving 3 monitors, about 20 Chrome tabs, Several Android apps, and a couple of Linux apps. With that it was using about 30-40% of 1 thread out of the two possible threads in each of the four cores, and about 75% of its memory. No glitches, hiccups, slowdowns, pauses or anything. It is fantastic.
- From a build quality perspective its built like a tank using premium materials and components. All the components and features are excellent, as is the performance – as good or better than a typical premium conventional laptop of up to twice its price.
- And as its soon to be superseded by a 2020 version, I got it at a great price.
There are a few negatives, which I don't think are serious but they may be significant to some so I'll share them:
- It’s a larger than common 16:9 laptops because of its 3:2 screen ratio, and while that’s a positive for productivity, it "feels" bigger than a 13.3" laptop should be, and won't fit in a lot of typical (16:9) laptop sleeves or bags or packs meant for 13" laptops.
- It's built like a tank, and has a good sized battery, so its half a pound to a pound heavier than much of its competition.
- It's fan cooled with vents on the bottom and rear. The fans don't come on that often, but you can hear them when they do, and they tend to come on in short bursts of high then off again rather than longer duration's at lower speeds – I imagine that’s because the powerful CPU is rarely taxed and only for short duration's. It also means you have to take care on sift surfaces not to block the vents, and it can get moderately warm (although not uncomfortably hot)
- There is a bit of light bleed around the keyboard keys when using the back-lighting.
It's an excellent premium Chromebook that I would highly recommend. Below is a list of all its features I compiled from a number of sources:
- Acer Chromebook Spin 13 CP713-1WN-53NF (2019)
- 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop/Tablet
- Intel quad core Core i5-8250U w integrated Intel UHD 620 Graphics, fan cooled
- 13.5" 2K Resolution IPS LED Touchscreen, Glossy Gorilla Glass, 3:2 aspect ratio 2256 x 1504, Wacom Pen Support
- 8GB LPDDR3 Ram
- 128GB eMMC Storage (about 100gb free)
- Backlit Keyboard
- Gorilla Glass Trackpad
- 720p Webcam, Microphone
- Bluetooth 4.2
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, 2x2 mimo
- Micro SD card slot
- 2xUSB-C 3.1 Gen1 (Power, 5gb Data, Display port), 1xUSB-A 3,0, Stereo Headphone/Mic jack
- On/Off and Volume buttons
- Integrated Wacom Compact Pen
- Downward facing stereo speakers
- All Aluminum Chassis/Exterior 9.68 x 12.19 x 0.67 in
- 3.5 Pounds (Spec says 3.3)
- 3 Cell Li-Ion 4670 mAh
- 45 watt USB-C charger
- Chrome Auto Updates until June 2025
- 1 year Warranty (can be extended)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2018Purchased this on Cyber Monday. I previously had an HP Chromebook 14 and wanted another Chromebook. The screen is really nice, but has pretty big bezels (this empty space is similarly noticeable above the keyboard). Overall, just a bit bigger/heavier than you'd expect a 13.5in laptop to be. Speakers sound pretty good, but they are on the bottom so they get distorted sometimes. Battery is pretty good so far. Performance is quick, but the fan on the bottom can get kinda noisy sometimes when doing something that isn't just basic browsing. I was playing a game (Helix Jump) and it at times was laggy, but performance was largely solid. Keyboard is good, but the weird bright spots when the backlit keyboard lights are on are definitely noticeable---though I don't really mind them. Stylus is kinda neat, however can ONLY be removed from a specific angle (tablet mode-ish) so be careful when trying to remove it. The lip to actually lift the screen off of the keyboard is extremely small and definitely tricky at times to open. Hope this provides a more informed purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible
Does not work well. Keeps on saying that chrome os is missing or damaged and i need to do a recovery. Happened many times and i only had it for 5 months in which i dont use too often and always shut down. No good. Gonna try to get refunded

5.0 out of 5 stars An very good chromebook
Before I begin, you should be aware of what ChromeOS can and cannot do before buying any chromeOS device. This Acer computer definitely feels premium. The MicroSD card slot is certainly useful especially when switching user where you can still access files stored on the SD Card compare to the Pixelbook. If you do see a good sale on this laptop, it's certainly worth it as the i5 has more than enough power for handling lots of tabs (at least 12 tabs or so with lots of multimedia on the website). Specs is confirmed as: i5 CPU, 128GB of storage and 8GB of ram.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great!
This is my first chromebook and it's great, the included stylus is perfect. I'm working with a program that uses G Suite for everything so having something native works extremely well! The battery life is perfect l.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like new, but great
I got a refurb of this product, and there is absolutely not anything that indicates this.
My previous chromebook is the Acer R 13, and this one is much faster and the track pad is very smooth. Got this one with the 8GB ram so that I would not have the memory issues while using linux.
Not sure about the weird 3:2 screen at this point - but I am sure I will grow to love.
Overall, great machine.
