Crucial BX200 Solid State Drive
Enjoy your computer again.
Ever start your computer, then have to find something to do while it wakes up? Your computer should be ready when you are — not the other way around. Make long wait times a thing of the past by loading apps in seconds, booting up almost instantly, and accelerating nearly everything on your computer. Get more done and have more fun with the Crucial BX200 SSD.
Micron quality – a higher level of reliability.
As a brand of Micron, one of the largest flash storage manufacturers in the world, the Crucial BX200 is backed by the same quality and innovation that has produced some of the world's most advanced memory and storage technologies. With over a thousand hours of prerelease validation testing and hundreds of SSD qualification tests, the Crucial BX200 has been thoroughly tried, tested, and proven. You'll notice the difference.
Up to 13x faster than a typical hard drive*
Accessing your data on the Crucial BX200 is like flipping a light switch — it's almost instant. The Crucial BX200 delivers true 540 MB/s sequential reads on both compressible and incompressible data, which allows you to access files and apps almost as soon as you click on them. Stop pulling your hair out waiting for your computer to catch up to you. Life moves fast — your computer should too.
Up to 40x more energy efficient than a typical hard drive**
Since SSDs access data on cutting-edge flash memory chips rather than on outdated spinning platters, they consume significantly less power than hard drives. Enjoy the ability to do more with longer battery life and experience a cooler, quieter system. Increase your laptop's portability, worry less about finding an outlet, and boost your productivity.
More durable than a typical hard drive
Since SSDs don't use moving parts that wear out over time, your photos, music, videos, and everything on the drive is less susceptible to a crash. Dropping a laptop with a hard drive may damage the small mechanical parts it uses to read and write data, and could cause the hard drive to fail. SSDs can sustain more physical trauma since they don't rely on these mechanical parts.
Better value than a typical SSD
The Crucial BX200 leverages proven flash memory technology that's been thoroughly vetted and engineered to extensive Micron quality standards. Upgrading to an SSD is one of the best ways to improve your system's performance, and now the price per gigabyte makes it a great time to ditch your hard drive. Start getting more out of your storage.
* Performance level based on comparative benchmark scores of the Crucial BX200 SSD and the Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EZEX internal hard drive. Actual performance level may vary based on benchmark used and individual system configuration. Test setup: 256GB Crucial m4 SSD as the primary storage drive, paired with a 960GB Crucial BX200 SSD and a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue internal hard drive as secondary drives (each secondary drive tested separately). All tests conducted on an Asus Maximus VII Gene motherboard, Intel i7-4790K 4.0GHz processor, SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 3870 video card, BIOS Rev. 2801, and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit operating system using PCMark Vantage HDD test suite. Benchmark testing conducted September 2015.

Good Entry Level drive - Early 2011 Macbook pro

- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2016Capacity: 240GBVerified PurchaseThis SSD is amazing. I purchased 2 and have them installed in 2 separate Dell Optiplex computers. It has basically halved the boot times, and makes me feel like I have a new computer again. Its not my first SSD and I am aware that it is not the fastest of SSDs. Giving an honest and realistic review this performs exactly as I expected. This is the perfect drive to refresh and upgrade some old hardware. This is not the SSD you want to purchase if you are building a new computer with the latest specs and greatest hardware. This is a budget solution to eek out a few more years out of some old hardware before getting them recycled. It performs WAY faster than any spinning disk drive you'll buy and is rock solid. I haven't had any issues getting them installed and up and running. I haven't had any read/write errors or data loss so far.
Pros :
-Super easy to install.
-Lightweight (this would be a great upgrade for any old laptop with a spinning disk, improved performance and shedding some weight)
-Reasonably fast for what you are paying for and what you are getting.
Cons :
-None that I can see.
Compared to others:
There are other reviewers that have expressed their dissatisfaction with the SSD as being not quite as fast as the MX200. Especially because the MX200 is only a few dollars more. I would argue that money is money and why would you spend the extra dollar even if your older hardware can't take advantage of the extra speed? Like I said in my review, if you're building a new computer with the latest and greatest then get something else, like the MX200, but if you are trying to get a few more years of performance out of your 2010 computer, this is a great option.
Conclusion:
BUY THIS DRIVE.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2016Capacity: 240GBVerified PurchaseWorked exactly as advertised. The price was fantastic. I know that the cost of flash memory has been dropping, nevertheless, the price was great and the computer as a whole has a significant increase in performance.
Let me pause there for a moment. I've worked in the tech industry for a long time. Most people think that RAM makes a huge impact in a computer. It can, if you are very low on RAM; however, one if the best investments you can ever make is moving from a spinning hard disk to a solid state drive. I don't want to get technical but you will reduce the required time to boot the computer, reduce the time to open applications, reduce the time to copy files to your computer, etc.... Second to the SSD would be RAM, if you don't already have an SSD.
Anyway, Crucial makes good products and always has. I've put them into many Windows PC's and also Mac computers. If you work on an iMac, just make sure that you delicately remove the thermal temperature bulb from the old hard drive (held on by double sided adhesive tape) and connect it to the SSD. Do not forget that step.
Have confidence with Crucial. They are good drives.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2016I recently gave my mom my old Mid 2010 Macbook Pro 13". She didn't have a laptop so I gave her my old one. It worked good, but moved rather slow because it had a 7200rpm HD inside, and so I told her that if she were to put a SSD inside that it would help speed up the unit a little. Boy was I wrong! It didn't speed it up a little it sped it up a lot!!! I was surprised although my newer Macbook Pro 15" Retina Display has an i7 2.7GHZ 8GB RAM w/500GB SSD (Its Fast) I was completely amazed at how fast my older MBP is now that I've upgraded the Boot Drive. Makes me kinda regret giving it away....lol Its almost as fast as my current MBP. This drive is really fast and inexpensive. I suggested to my mom that she buy an external 1TB HD to store her data onto, and to leave the internal SSD strictly for programs/applications. That will ensure optimal performance for a while. BTW I am running OSX Mavericks on this drive in my older MBP and it works just fine! Super easy to install and very light in weight. This isn't the best SSD on the market, but if you're moving up from a traditional HD 5400/7200 etc. you definitely will not be disappointed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2016Capacity: 240GBVerified PurchaseThis SSD was like a heart transplant for my 2009 MacBook Pro, which was running annoyingly slow thanks to its aging mechanical hard drive...it gave it new life and the MacBook is now running like it's from 2014. Upon receiving the Crucial BX200, I backed up the data from the old hard drive and went ahead with installing the SSD drive. Replacing the HD in a MacBook Pro is easy and painless, takes 10 minutes or less, with most the time spent removing the tiny screws from the bottom cover. Simply remove the star-nut studs from the original Macbook Pro HD, then screw them into the Crucial SSD, reassemble, and boot from a SD card prepped and loaded with Mac OS X El Capitan (or newer), then install the OS cleanly onto the new SSD drive. The whole installation took less than 30 minutes, and after the OS install completed, the MacBook Pro (2009 model) was booting to a desktop in just seconds, compared to the several several minutes to took to boot to a desktop (from a power-off state) from the old mechanical HD. Huge difference in responsiveness and system performance.
Apps now launch in one bounce or less, video playback is MUCH, much smoother, and restarts that formerly took minutes now only take seconds. The performance boost is nearly day/night compared to running from a mechanical HD, especially on aging computer systems.
This is a no-brainer upgrade for your older MacBook, iMac, or any PC system that is running rather sluggishly largely in part due to mechanical hard drive bottlenecks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Une fusée de grande taille !

5.0 out of 5 stars Esperienza negativa, ma SSD soddisfacente e veloce.
Consiglio l'acquisto.

5.0 out of 5 stars Un cambio de velocidad Brutal!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Crucial's SSD is reliable, fast, and easy to install
Capacity: 240GBVerified PurchaseAfter purchasing a Samsung EVO-brand SSD and having to return it because it was faulty, I decided to opt for a Crucial-brand SSD instead. I'm pleased with my choice! The drive installed easily and with absolutely no hassles. It was detected by my system with no problems, and has worked flawlessly since its installation. As with most drive migrations, I recommend installing a fresh version of your OS, as migration software tends never to work perfectly. Installing a new version of your OS and migrating your data and programs manually is a far preferable option, even if it is a bit more time-consuming. This drive is worth the time investment, though! My PC is far faster and more reliable than ever -- it's like I've got a new device, and better than when my PC was new! Highly recommended.
