I was one of the lucky ones who got this at the deal of the day price from Woot. It is now a hundred or so more from other sellers. It is still a great deal folks. Even at the higher price I may buy another, I like it so much. This is fast - quiet - and tiny. With the SSD a reboot takes about 30 seconds Win 7 pro - is the best OS Microsoft ever made. No crapware on this thing - not even anti virus except for the MS built in. The reason it is so cllean is that this was built for enterprise use, not home or even business class. Try to find another box with an SSD drive in this range. BTW: Regarding no HDMI - displayport is better. It is future proof and backwards compatible with anything. Displayport to hdmi converters are $10 here on Amazon. Get 2 like I did - mine is powering a 40 inch Sony HDMI TV and a 32 inch monitor simultaneously and smooth as silk.

It plays WoW: Legion rather impressively once the graphics are tuned right. Don't look to play on Ultra. Otherwise, it's really great! If you gaming rig is on the fritz, this one will placate you while you save for repairs. :)

Biggest piece of junk I every purchased. Started having problems two weeks after receipt. Machine developed a problem where the fan would spin up to full speed and shut down after less that one minute. After two weeks of calls to HP Elite customer server and Tech came out and replaced the motherboard and CPU. The problem persisted and I was told it's a software problem. So, re-installed Windows and the problems sill there. Installed Windows 7 Pro and the problems still there. So, I get on the phone with Elite Tech Support again, and while running diagnostics on the machine, a capacitor exploded like a firecracker and it literately caught fire. I immediately unplugged the machine and took it out to the garage. Luckily I was home when the machine failed or I would be homeless right now. And then I ran into the bureaucracy at HP Support. I've made over 200 calls to try to come to an agreement to replace the machine. Currently HP wants me to sign away all my legal rights and future warranty support in order for them to replace it. That's not gonna happen. Some of the people at HP have been really nice and a pleasure to deal with, others have been down right rude. The Tech that came to my house was very polite and knowledgeable. He's taken a personal interest in helping me get the unit replaced or repaired. Also, the Tech based out of NM has been a pleasure to talk to on the phone. We've traded many a story while trying to resolve the issue. I don't want to mention names here; it's not the correct forum for that. So, at this point, the Unit sits in the closet. I've come to the conclusion that the only way I'm going to get this resolved is to pursue legal action. Oh, well......

I would have scored it higher, because these are really great. Quiet, cheap, small. Everything works fine on mine, but a couple times it has completely frozen up with all kinds of weird color boxes on the monitor. Takes a power recycle to get it back. my gut says video controller, but that's on board, so probably going to have to send her back.

    Anyone else experience this?

Great things come in small packages. Wanted a Win7 system as my Win7 laptop was experiencing an early demise because of H/W problems. No need to have a laptop anymore as a Smartphone and tablet can do what I need away from home. So a mini desktop seemed like a great compromise.

The HP 705 is small and usually silent. Only when I'm doing intense things like photoshop that the "afterburners" kick in and then the fan goes on. Even then it's not that loud. About the same white noise as my ceiling fan (I'm in AZ).

Deleted the little HP S/W that was there for remote maintenance because it's an Enterprise box.

The ONLY Con was that the manuals were on the SSD as pdfs. Fair enough. Clicked on a pdf and found out Acrobat wasn't installed. Are you kidding me? How is one to read the manuals without Acrobat? (Obviously downloaded Acrobat.) That was a STUPID error on HP's part, but not enough to downgrade to 4 stars.

Brought up Win7 and customized it. Seems fast. Partitioned the SSD to 100GB for W7, the rest for me. More than enough. A friend saw the HP 705 and he's going to order one and get rid of his older clunky big desktop.

Out of curiosity I downloaded Win10 (AFTER taking a Win7 Image copy) and W10 came up with incorrect/missing drivers, etc. Spent awhile cleaning that up only to encounter more problems. Had similar issues when I had checked out W10 on my Lenovo W7 laptop. In both cases, I restored back to W7 using the Images saved. While this has nothing to do with the HP 705, it does show that W10 has it's upgrade problems. So I'll be staying with W7 until at least 2020.

The HP 705 is a great mini desktop. I don't do gaming so I can't speak to that, but for everything I do, it's more than powerful enough. Someone else mentioned how fast it Boots. It does, indeed. I don't even bother with Sleep Mode any more, just shut it down when I'm done.

This little bad boy is all I could have hoped for an more. It is as small as can be and definitely packs a punch. My main purpose is a unit specific for work at home with web surfing. I work with large excel files (multiple tabs of thousands or rows and hundreds of colums on each). The SSD drive is a definite pickup over prior experiences with SATA and the RAM is just enough to focus on excel (will need to add more if I start to seriously multi-task).

Really impressed by the footprint. I picked this up along with two 27" monitors and this thing disappears sitting between them. Has plenty of ports for multi monitor hookup, USB, and other. Didn't realize it also had wi-fi (probably should realize on my own - everything has wi-fi now, but none the less it was a nice surprise and works extremely well).
