It is an excellent product that is easy to set up and use. Most features are self-explanatory, and everything can be done, mainly, updates, through wi-fi. The visuals are great and easy to follow without taking away too much from concentrating on the road. My only problem with this unit is the dash mounting bracket that doesn't work. The difficulty in mounting is particularly troublesome if one wants to use the GPS, like me, with rentals. I have emailed about the problem to Magellan, and I got an automatic case number. In the meantime (48 ago) I did not hear from them. That is the only reason I did not give the GPS 5 stars.

This unit is actually a good concept, combining two pieces of automotive electronics (GPS and dash camera) and add a couple of obnoxious safety features that some people seem to actually want (lane departure warning and forward collision warning). The safety features I immediately turned off, because I drive heavily on narrow back roads, usually at night, and get too many false hits on both. The user interface is actually very good, which is the only reason why I gave it two stars. The display is pretty easy to read while driving, although it would be nice if it highlighted or displayed the names of upcoming crossroads in "Free Driving" mode, and I like the hideaway trip pane in Guidance Mode that shows the direction of travel, ETA, and distance remaining, a feature that annoyingly, couldn't be permanently attached to the navigation screen on the 6230-LM this unit was supposed to replace. The biggest problems with it are very glaring to me, and made this purchase a waste of my money. The first is the inability to drop a pin (save a location by latitude-longitude) and the second is the inability to name your saved locations. Maybe I'm the only one that considers the first to be such a core function to any GPS, but it is one of the primary advantages to driving with one always active. See a salvage yard, store, or tourist trap you want to visit, hit a couple buttons, Save Current Location, and drive on so you can visit later. Not with the 6630T-LM. Maybe this feature had to be removed because the focus is is safety and dropping that pin is a distraction? I don't know, don't care, its absence is extremely annoying to me, as the entrances to many of the facilities I need to visit don't correspond to the addresses they were given, and I like to be able to save them by the actual position lat-lon instead of having to look for them every time. The problem with the second issue should be obvious to everyone. You don't go to 123 Sycamore Street, you go to "John's house." You're not sent to 4567 Industrial Drive, you're sent to "The Supply Warehouse," so if you're using this unit, you need to keep a separate list of names and addresses anyway. Possibly in your cell phone, where very likely you can just use Google Maps with a couple of clicks. A couple other other annoying little things are that there's no apparent way to set customize the overspeed alert and the holder required pinpoint accuracy to mount and unmount the head unit. The last problem I had with it (literally, since it's now back in its box, destined to collect dust unless Magellan fixes the software) is that it kept guiding me up dead end streets, up people's driveways, and across bridges that appeared to have been at least years, if not decades, gone. Not sure what the deal with that is, but it also did so taking me on a 10+ mile roundabout way to another site that was only about 4 miles away from the one I had been at. Oh, and the "Quick entry" method that GPSs have been using for years? The one we were all annoyed by at first, but most of us quickly came to appreciate? For whatever reason they decided to abandon it for a standard internet search bar that is now cumbersome by comparison. So in all, this is a complete fail by Magellan, and will give me pause to buy any of their products in the future, for fear that this is the direction all of their products will takeRead full review

I already owned one and bought a second one for my wife's car. It is not as easy to use as the Garmin but it has the added feature of a built in dash cam. The camera is good but not great and you need to manually start it at the begging of each trip, which I don't like. I got a great price on the it which made my decision easy to buy it. The GPS is good both with directions and graphics but more difficult to put in addresses than the Garmin which I have used in the past. Overall good value for what I paid but not great.

I've used this product in the past and was very happy with it until after about a year or so when it started having issues like not recording automatically so you had to manually start the recording then from recording every 5 mins, it would only record every minute, once you turn it off, even though you set it to record for 5 mins previously. It also would not use any 64 gb micro SD card, ever, kept getting an error message every time I tried using one. I could only use 32 gb SD card and not just any one either but only the Onn brand (Sandisk, Samsung, Kingston, all would not work). Then one day it suddenly stopped working, all it showed was the start up Megallen logo screen. Life time maps is not life time but maybe 2 years at best which to me is false advertising but the overall experience of using it is excellent. So I love using it when it works they way it's supposed to, not that much when it starts having problems.Read full review

Pros: Reroutes quickly when you change course. Zooms into turns automatically for detail and then backs out again (option to turn off). Screen is bright and easy to see. Speed limit attributes are assigned to major road arcs with a chime sound when you cross the limit barrier that's not annoying. Two storage areas for saved destinations: 1 kind of like "favorites" but this only holds 16 easy to read places. The other place mainly holds street addresses with no ability to relabel. Mount is solid (so far). Camera takes good movies. Cons: Hard to find WiFi to connect. Lots of authentication errors. Still haven't found one to register or update maps. Cannot connect via USB cable (stupid design depending 100% on WiFi) Major problem: Battery drains with both navigator and camera operating. With only this unit plugged into my car's power port, the battery went from 100% to 73% in an hour. Turning off the camera, the charge began climbing back up. I moved the unit to my truck which has a real lighter port to see if it has extra amps to keep up. Both scokets in my truck keep the battery topped off at 100%, so the issue is with the amps in the only socket in my car. If the camera is off, the navigator-onlly use doesn't drain the battery. I didn't get it for the camera so I'm not too disappointed, but since it works in my truck without battery drain, I'll leave it there. I also don't care about voice control, as I barely pay attention and like any navi-unit for counting down miles or time to a destination.Read full review

it was a little hard at first, but I’m getting used to it. I like the Built in camera, to help keep me in my lane. It can also record An accident if needed.

I have owned numerous Magellan gps's and this one is difficult to use. It works, but is not user friendly and it is hard to program; unlike all Magellan previous models.

I have had and used this unit for two days. I feel I must correct the other reviewer's false statement. The unit works well and I felt it is much faster than my two older GPS units. One is a TOMTOM and the other is a Garmin. Most importantly, this unit CAN program address for driving rout. It can actually program and store more than 10 addresses.
