If you're reading this you may have read independent reviews on another site. Some complain about the weight, build quality, I even found one complaining about how thick it is... I found one review complaining about how it's not comparable to a full power 3070 laptop GPU. While true it's comparable to a 115watt 2070 (looking like this ones 7-9% better by my measures), but it also has a newer better processor than my old 2070 laptop so that's a bonus. So about laptops, let's be realistic, the rule of thumb in laptop GPUs is that the current generation is nearly equal (+/- a few %) to the generation before it. That's been a pretty accurate saying for the past 10+ years. This GPU is the lower wattage version, if you have a 115watt 2070 save your money it's not going to be a huge difference unless your playing CPU intensive games... Comparing this to my wife's laptop with a full powered 3070 it's lighter, has comparable battery life, and runs a little cooler. It seems to be less FPS at about a 10-20 FPS difference in some games at high to ultra settings, but still maintains 60+ in all tested games. Comparing it to my old 2070 laptop this ones a little better, but not worth the upgrade in the name of performance, for me it was an upgrade in portability. Yes it gets hot, but mine has yet to approach thermal throttle territory, and yes it has some weight, and yes it's thick compared to almost all nongaming laptops and a little thicker than some other gaming laptops. Admittedly this is my first msi laptop, but the build quality feels good to me in comparison to the Alienware, Lenovo, and Asus laptops I've owned, it's also thinner and lighter than all of the ones I've owned, especially the Alienwares. One downside is the battery, plan on having this thing on an outlet if you're going to use it for more than an 1 or 2 hours gaming, 3-4 hours just running with word and a browser. This is the biggest drawback I could find, which doesn't bother me much since outlets are easy to come by this day and age. When comparing to other laptops I've owned its dismal, even my 2070 watt laptop got 6 hours when new, 3-4 hours when gaming. I figure this may be a side effect of people wanting to make smaller thinner laptops... Both my wifes 3070 laptop and my 3070 laptop have the same dismal battery life. Another possible downside is the limited storage. With games like Forza Horizon 5, CoD, GTA, etc you're not going to have a vast library on the m.2 that comes with it. But my external SSD works fine to solve this, and while I haven't taken it apart I read there is either a second m.2 or a 2.5 inch bay - note that's just what I've read, I have not personally confirmed this. All in all the limited storage may affect some, but it's easily remedied using an external drive, thumb drive, and possibly internal expansion (again, I haven't confirmed this yet) It's a settings game to achieve 144fps, same can be said for getting 240 on a desktop pc, but it's so far been doable at decent graphics in most games I've played on it. Later add on: finally got around to taking it a part. It does have a second m.2 easily accessible just south of the memory. It also has a 2.5 inch connection on the left, below the kingston m.2 it comes with, however no way to mount as the battery fills the space where the sata drive would go. Looking at similar models it seems this mobile was used with a different battery with the 3060 so if you need as much storage as possible and 2 m.2 drives won't cut it this isn't your laptop.
