Why oh why did Panasonic not show off those beautiful MLF diaphrams on these headphones in any of the media? When I was doing research before purchasing, I watched a video review of these and happened to see them which made me so darned curious about them. Call it vain, but I love the design choice to have the headphone look plain on the outside yet have pretty drivers shown off inside. Aesthetics aside, these sound pretty good. I couldn't find any measured frequency response charts of these things, but the sound profile feels relaxed. Female vocals feel a bit recessed compared to what I usually like. Could use a tad bit more bass. But this may be more of a personal preference thing or how my ears shape reacts to it. My usual headphones and preference are from AKG. Specific notes: If using a Windows 10 machine, make sure to disable the microphone (hands-free telephony) or else the sound will be quite disappointing. This isn't a flaw with the headphones. This is just Windows being stupid with splitting bluetooth bandwidth between two bluetooth devices (mic + headphones) even if you're not actually using the microphone. I've had sensitivity to cheap noise cancelling headphones causing dizziness. No issues with this one. Noise cancelling performance is superb, and the quick ambient mode by cupping the right ear cup is nifty. It would've been nice to be able to also be able to double tap the cup in order to toggle on and off. The noise cancelling switch for this is just a bit too small to be easily accessed and you can get awkwardly stuck between cupping the ear cup and fiddling for the toggle with your thumb or just taking the headphones off entirely. Double tapping to toggle would just streamline the experience a bit more. These headphones have a higher than average clamping force out of the box. If you take them off with one hand, be mindful to not let the cans 'clap' against each other. I suspect that this impact may over time weaken and cause the headband swivel + fold joints to fail. There was a bit of creaking on the ear cups which went away after a few hours of use. I'm guessing that the 3d ball joints needed to break a bit and smooth itself.

These were my first foray into noise-cancelling headphones, and after checking out every end of the price-brackets, I settled on trying these first, got a damaged package for just over $40.

First of all, I love the color and shape. I also tried some higher-end Sony's and they were solid but for my purposes, the bluetooth connectivity was a little spotty (my phone, probably, they worked fine when I let a friend try them) and these inexpensive Panasonics looked nicer, at least on me. The build has several switches on the headphones, which I really appreciate-- I fidget and tap on things a lot, and it's a pain to have everything in the world be touch-responsive when a light tap was just supposed to be me messing with my hair.

They sound solid (I'm not an audiophile), hold a steady charge, noise-cancelling works for me, and bluetooth has been reliable. Because of this, and the price, I rate these 5 stars despite their shortcoming (see below) because they do everything I personally wanted them to do-- I can work and study from home without having to worry about someone else turning the TV or a podcast on.

That said, compared to higher-end headphones, this does have a major downside:
Turn it up a few clicks above minimum, and your roommate/hubby/labmates/etc will be able to hear most of what you're listening to in a quiet space. If the volume is high and the room is quiet, they will be able to hear *everything*. On one hand, if you're in a quiet room and can listen to the volume on low, then it's less of an issue, but that doesn't work for everyone, especially if you're trying to dampen breakthrough noise.

If you need to be in a library or you want some privacy when it comes to your podcasts, these might not be the ones.
But, if you're using these primarily at home and you want some inexpensive, reliable sound-cancelling headphones, these are a solid pair that you can get for around $45.

I'm quite happy with my purchase. The sound quality not the best, definitely not on audiophile standard. Also they are not the most comfortable pair. There is no metal on the headband and it makes a slight pressure to the top of the head because when you yank the cups, top of the headband moves downwards with them. Also cups are a little on the small side. My ears are rather small and still ear pads touch to my ear from all sides.

Those were the negative aspects. However that noise cancelling. There are 3 modes. 1st mode, which made me decide to write this review, cancels the wind noise. 2nd mode cancels more dynamic noises I think, though I haven't confirmed it yet. 3rd mode is the more common mode which cancels noises like air plane and air conditioner. Let me tell you this, wind noise cancelling is not very common. As far as I know Sony just added this feature to their last iteration XM4s. This pair also support a quite a lot of codecs including aptx-HD and LDAC. It was my reason to choose these. Hope this review helps if you are considering to buy one.
