20" Premium Smart SF-T723030 first impressions - UPDATED my review 2-16-2025 2.5/5 stars now
3 out of 5 stars
20" Premium Smart SF-T723030 first impressions - UPDATED my review 2-16-2025 2.5/5 stars now
UPDATE: 2-16-2025 I'm updating my review after having owned this and used it almost daily for over a month now. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this treadmill and have dropped my score from 4/5 to 2.5/5 (reflected at 3/5 because Amazon doesn't permit half stars). Here is my issue and it's a big one for me. After using this treadmill with the same exact routine (speed changes; no incline) I had been doing for months and months on a very inexpensive walking pad from Urevo that goes up to 6.9 speed, I started developing a lot of pain in my right knee. I'm 48 years old and have never had any knee pain nor any issues with my joints. This knee pain increased within 3 days of use. So much so that I was out for a couple of weeks of being able to use it. Once I "RICE'd" for a couple of weeks, I decided to try the same routine side by side with the Sunny and the Urevo alternating days. Every single time about 15-20 minutes in, my knee or other areas of my legs started getting much more sore and fatigued when using the Sunny. When using the Urevo, however, I was able to do my normal 30 minutes HIIT run with no issues. So, I thought, maybe this is happening because the Sunny has a .5% natural incline? So I put two rubber 1/2 inch thick pads on the back feet, made sure the machine was level and flat and tried again. No dice, still some discomfort and still fatigue that I don't get on the cheap walking pad. I then tested the speed differences between the two. Indeed, there is a difference of about 1% so I adjusted accordingly when doing my routine with the Sunny. Still uncomfortable. The last thing I did for 3 days was run for 5 minutes at a certain speed, lets say 5 on the Sunny and then hopped off and did the same on the Urevo. It was at this point I noticed that for whatever reason, the much cheaper (yet really well made) Walking Pad felt much softer with the cushioning and I could tell that with my short strides I was feeling lighter running on that deck as opposed to the Sunny which feels heavy-footed and "harder". I have no idea how a much more expensive treadmill that I bought honestly only because I wanted a wider running belt is less cushioned and comfortable than this "Premium" albeit, budget treadmill. I don't even want to use it anymore unfortunately so I'm out the money I paid for it. I only wanted to write my experience because if cushioning is a factor for you and you jog/run at speeds 5 or more, than this might not be the choice of treadmill. I'm currently looking to bite the bullet and get another treadmill. It's unfortunate that Amazon lumps two different models into the same reviews as 99% of the reviews on here are for the older and narrower belt version. I received this newer model on Thursday January 9. 2025. The box was beat up (no surprise) but it was packaged well and nothing was damaged. It is indeed HEAVY. It states 130lbs boxed but it feels more substantial. After unpackaging, my wife and I both lifted the treadmill to get it from our garage to a lower level room that wasn't too far away. I would advise if you need to move this up or down some flights to be cautious and make sure you have able bodies who can lift it. I followed the instructions per manual and setting up the treadmill was amazingly easy as it comes preassembled. You lift up the handrails and lock the console into place. That easy. Only left is to screw in the cup holders (for those interested these are big!! and they hold my 40oz water bottle that doesn't have a narrow base so that was a very nice surprise!) and insert the safety key. Next up, I lubed the belt per the instructions. I was a bit hesitant to lift the belt as to not damage or stretch it but found that once you get an edge up, it comes up with enough space easily to apply the lube without losing any tension. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend doing this on both sides as when you put the belt back down it aligns it into place in case anything got jarred during shipping. I plugged in the treadmill and let it run for 5 minutes at the slowest default speed. Everything sounded normal and the belt was centered with no pulling left or right, therefore, no adjustments were needed. I tested the speeds and here is where I noticed a very strange issue. When I get to speeds 2.1 - 2.9 - there is an audible change in sound. It is somewhat of a higher pitched noise that for some reason only happens during these speeds. ALL other speeds, lower or higher, DO NOT have this noticable noise. Now, it's not terrible, like, it doesn't sound like the motor is acting up and doesn't sound like grinding or anything like that. It's really hard to explain but I attached a video that demonstrates this. We have done around 10 runs so far since Thursday at numerous speeds and inclines and the treadmill functions properly with no issues so my concern about the sound is minimal as it's not loud or obnoxious nor seems to affect functionality, it's just..."noticable". I did reach out to Sunny since it's brand new and they advised to take the cover off of the motor area, remove the motor belt and run the machine. This would be to determine if the noise is a motor issue or a roller or belt issue. I have not done this. I did remove the cover to observe the workings and the motor looks to be running smooth, the belt is secure and when changing speeds I do not notice the motor belt moving side to side or anything. Matter of fact, while I could still hear that noise at those speeds, I could not tell if it was even coming from that area or at the foot of the treadmill or at the control panel or wherever. It's very hard to trace the source. It "seems" like it's actually a faint electronic noise from the console but I have no idea. I just don't think I feel comfortable removing the motor belt since I don't have direction as to how to put the belt back on. There is a 180 day part warranty so I might get someone who knows about treadmills to do this with me so I don't mess up a good thing. BTW - that warranty is terrible but I figured for the price I paid, so be it. This model was only one out of a few I could find with a 20" deck and less than 68" length which I require for my limited space restrictions so it fit the bill. All "more expensive models" from other brands that I looked into are just simply too big for what I can fit and also most require intricate assembly. In conclusion, I have to say, the 20" wide belt is a HUGE welcome addition and I don't think I could ever go back to a smaller belt width. My runs and jogs feel much more comfortable and I don't have to look down every so often in fear of stepping on the sides of the belt. The incline and speed transitions are super smooth and the brushless motor and shock absorption make running on this a surprisingly really quiet and enjoyable experience. The large cup holders are a bonus that I didn't expect. Time will tell how this holds up but after set-up and regular use for 4 days I really, really like this treadmill. I'm a novice runner so for more advanced runners this might not be the treadmill for them, however, I assume they wouldn't even consider a Sunny for their needs in that case. Pros: The price, ease of set up, larger belt width and quiet operation makes us really happy we went with this model (so far). Cons: Sunny's warranty is straight up garbage. At this point, I see no other cons. "Cons" specific to me but might not apply to others: While there are 24 included programs, I can only use like 2 of them because most reach speeds at a certain duration that I simply can't do. Speeds 7 and up are way too fast for me. I thought the SunnyFit app courses would automatically adjust treadmill settings during workouts. This is not the case. You DO see your parameters on the right hand side of the screen and you CAN change them to adjust the treadmill within the app (that's cool!) but the treadmill will not change incline or speed during a workout course and you just have to follow the instructors numbers and adjust them manually. Not a big deal so not really a "con", I just didn't know. While I appreciate SunnyFit's customer service, (I was able to get someone on the phone quickly and they responded to my emails in a timely manner) I'm not crazy about them asking me to remove the motor belt to troubleshoot without giving further instructions how to put it back on. Again, not really a "con" just an observation. Thank you for reading.

Top reviews from the United States

  • Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2021
4/21/2022 - Update after using this treadmill for about a year
I use the treadmill 4 to 5 times a week for 2.5 miles at 3.5 MPH over varying inclines from 0 to 3. The treadmill has been flawless so far. Highly recommended.
    End of Update

I also would NOT get a treadmill without auto incline. Doing it manually means getting off the treadmill and manually adjusting a plastic piece at the rear of the treadmill.

Belt width on this treadmill is 16.5", length is 49.5". I'm 5' 10" and if not careful (and my feet move towards the rear of the treadmill a little). I can feel where the belt is joined. Staying a little forward avoids that.

Very easy to assemble comprising 6 bolts with lock washers and 4 screws. Their screw driver isn't much good, I would use your own. They provide two allen wrenches of slightly different sizes but only one size is needed.

The treadmill appears very sturdy, easy to fold up, easy to let down again. Bluetoothj speakers work OK to my Android phone. Not great speakers but wouldn't expect them to be great (after all, it is a treadmill). The speakers are certainly listenable to.

The treadmill motor is very quiet also.

I did purchase the mat by Sunny that the treadmill sits on.

Per the instructions, I did lube under the belt before use. Probably worth ordering more when you order the treadmill. Using more than 5 hours per week...they recommend lubing monthly.

All in all, a very good treadmill (not that I am any expert <g>).

    Update 2/21/2021
I’ve used this for the last several weeks now. I really like the treadmill. Seems to be well made, was well packed. The only very minor gripe I have is that between my phone volume control and the volume control on the treadmill it is a little difficult to get the volume just right. Either a little too soft or a little too loud. Not a big deal. The treadmill really needs a more granular volume control.

    Update 2/27/2021
I don't take any stock in the pulse readings. I see wildly fluctuating numbers given during various times during my walking sessions. I walk 2.5 miles at 3.5mph 6 times per week. I see pulse fluctuations from the 80/90 mark after, say 1 mile, and release my fingers or thumbs from the handles. 20 or 30 seconds later, when testing again, I see figures in the 120/130 range and once as high as 170. 20 or seconds later it is back to 80/90. Doesn't make sense to me.

    Update 4/1/2021
I sent an email to the manufacturer about 4 weeks ago. I had an observation about the display showing "Fat" and the manual showing "BMI" as well as asking a question about programming custom treadmill programs. As of today, I have had NO REPLY. Makes me wonder what would happen if I had a warranty claim (I don't ATM). Still not a good indication of support from the company. Lowering the rating to 3* due to this.

    6 month (or so) update.
Having used this treadmill for around 6 months, I have raised the rating to 4*. The only real issue that I can mildly criticize is that the volume steps seem to be too far apart to get the volume to a level that I am OK with. It's either a bit too loud or too soft. I have played with the volume on both the treadmill and my phone but can never seem to quite get it right.

All in all, not much of a criticism hence raising the review to 4*

I have literally read so many reviews of treadmills, and searched high and low until I found one that seemed would be a good fit for me.

The Sunny Health brand beat the Proform and other local store brands in reviews and in quality from what I found online. I also wanted a treadmill with a small footprint, so it could easily fit in my home, and something that I could both walk and run on. I also wanted an automatic incline, if affordable, to make things easier on me and prevent getting on and off the treadmill. This Sunny Health treadmill met all my requirements for an affordable price, and I'm truly happy I went with this one.

When it comes in, let me say, please have two people ready. I am a 5'2, 100 pound female whose husband helped to get it over the threshold into the house and then I slid it across my floors to my six foot long nook. Total mistake. Reason? Because I didn't realize which end was which and I wanted this to face the patio door in my nook so I could look outside while on it. Another mistake? My nook is situated behind the couch with a wall opposite it, so I had a narrow space to work with and unboxing this thing took me a good hour and a half as my husband decided this was the best time to nap, and I refused to not woman up and have it put together when he woke up. I'm an idiot. LOL!

This is so nicely packaged that there was no worry about the device having any damage, and I managed to lay it flat, and took a box cutter to cut the whole top off. I was doing a jig at this point because the treadmill looks fantastic and I knew I could get it out in ten minutes. Oh how wrong I was. The front of the device is HEAVY, and as someone who hasn't gone to the gym since I had my last child, my arm strength is lacking. I couldn't move it up an inch. What's more is that there are wood pieces holding this thing in place that are glued to the bottom of the packaging. I had to somehow pick it up to go over those humps. I struggled for an hour and a half until I got my two kids to step in the are of the box I managed to wiggle it out from for weight, and I then I picked up the non heavy end and "walked" the front over the humps. After finally getting it out, I did have to have one child hold the arms and top area of the treadmill up while I screwed the screws in. Once done, it was super easy to finish the set up, and I oiled under the treadmill mat, and was ready to turn it on. (side note, husband woke up, and helped me turn it around. With no wheels, it was a feat for me, not so much for his 6'2 self).

After I let it run for a minute to oil the mat up, I was ready to roll! There is an on switch on the bottom front of the device, and from there the controls light up. The handles do have the up/down for incline on the left and the up/down for speed on the right. They also have a pulse reader on the handles, but I don't find it works well at all, and sometimes I get a little static shock on the left handle as an FYI. The face of the device has your start and stop, your time, quick buttons for speed in two increments (2 mph, 4, 6, 8 mph), has incline quick buttons, and music buttons on top that I don't use at all. There is also a magnetized latch that magnetizes in the middle of the treadmill at the bottom, and the clamp goes on you just in case you fall. The magnet is wrenched off, and it does stop immediately!

In use, this treadmill does have a soft landing feature, which means when it's up you have to use your foot to push the pole in the middle, and the treadmill mat will start extremely slowly lowering. I have no fear of it being pushed and one of my kids trapped beneath it as it's like watching paint dry for it to fully lower. I did purchase four thick pads off of Amazon, and I have two under the front edges, and when it lowers, I bend down and wait for it the end edges to almost touch the floor before sliding them beneath so my floor is protected. I do find I have to really push this lever to get it to go down, but that could just be me as my husband was watching me flounder, and stepped on it, and it immediately started going down.

Again, I'm only 5'2, so my stride is short and I walk normally anywhere from 3 to 3.7 mph. Jogging on this is at a 4-4.5 mph, and 5 mph is my max limit currently for my short legs. I was afraid this would be too slow for me to run on, but no way! I could do a full sprint and still not be on 8 mph which is the max. It runs smooth, but when I run, because I am in a nook area, my steps do echo to me. I have had treadmills before and I don't feel this is any louder than those. This is also in my living room, so when I am on it, my husband tends to put on his headset to listen to the tv and drown out my footfalls. The max weight on this is 240, and my husband tops out at 240-245 so he hasn't tried to go on it yet. I will update if he does to see how well it worked with him on it.

In all, I love this treadmill and it's smallness, the buttons are amazing and work great, it's a smooth surface to run or walk on, and super easy to put together. I love the soft close and how easy it is to pick the treadmill surface up. The incline is smooth also, and gives a great workout. The only issues I could nitpick at is trying to get it out of the box on my own, and I wish the screen was a lot taller. It does have a phone holder, but then I have to look down to view it, and some other treadmills I saw had a raised top area so you're looking at height level as there was a phone holder on the very top of it. I thought about putting a small magnet on my door so my phone could magnetize to it and it would be height level for me. So if you're taller than 5'2, you'd definitely be looking straight down to watch anything and after a time that does strain your neck. Again, that's my only would be issues that very nitpicking. Otherwise I love this treadmill, and do recommend it!

I recently purchased it and have been pleasantly surprised by its overall performance. The assembly process was straightforward and user-friendly, which was a big plus for me as I'm not particularly handy.

In terms of functionality, this treadmill delivers exactly what I need for my home workouts. The range of speed settings and incline options provides a versatile workout experience.

However, one notable downside is that the treadmill does generate some noise when in use, particularly noticeable when walking or jogging. It's not excessively loud, but it's definitely audible. For me, this isn't a dealbreaker, especially considering the price point. But for those seeking a whisper-quiet machine, this might be something to consider.

Overall, considering its affordability and ease of assembly, this treadmill is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable workout option at home. Despite the minor noise issue, it delivers a commendable performance and functionality.

    Pros:

    Budget-friendly
    Easy assembly
    Versatile speed and incline settings
    Decent cushioning for joint comfort
    Cons:

Generates noticeable noise when in use, particularly while walking

5.0 out of 5 stars Great treadmill

Arrived safely and intact. It is a very heavy box, so be prepared. Easy to unpack and easy to assemble - the only assembly required is to raise and secure the panel and supports. So far seems to work well, but I have only had this for about a week. Happy with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Treadmill works great - but unable to Register for Warranty web address not working!
Reviewed in Canada on December 3, 2024
This is a truly well made treadmill, excellent value for the money. The packaging was well taken care off and is a breeze to setup. I have been using it daily and it works great! The key, to keep a treadmill trouble free is to oil the belt frequently and if needed to adjust when needed.

There is one thing that I am not happy with: Is that I am unable to register the treadmill for warranty. Going to the weblink given: sunnyhealthfitness.com/warranty does not work at all. Maybe some one from Sunnyhealth Fitness can respond and correct this.
It would be a shame selling a great treadmill advertizing a warranty with it, and then not being able to register it for warranty!

Hopefully someone at Sunnyhealthfitness will read this and correct it....

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Walking Treadmill
Reviewed in Canada on March 12, 2022
I bought this unit for my parents who use it for walking. It is not too small (some treadmills are too short) but it fits perfectly in their condo.

The unit is easy to assemble with two people. It is sturdy, but I would not use it for serious running. The elevation is controlled electronically with a motor so it is very convenient. I like the fact that it has handles so my parents have something to hold on to in case they stumble.

My parents are religious with their work out and they use it everyday. They walk quite fast too. So far, the unit is holding up well, we are quite pleased with it.

The only caution: the unit comes in one big box and it is not light.
