Good GPS after firmware update
Purchased this GPS as a factory refurb. First time I used it the sound was so soft you couldn't hear the directions with the windows down and the radio turned off. I read that this would be corrected with a firmware update which I immedately did. After downloading the newest map, traffic camera info and firmware I was told I didn't have enough memory and needed to install a memory card. Luckily I had an 8 GB card handy and in it went. After waiting for the way too long time for the GPS to format the card the new info was uploaded and now I have a functional GPS. I'm not 100% sure about the routing as it has sent me off the route I would take a couple of times but there were possible reasons so I'll give it a bit more time before I really trust it. The 3D mapping only happens in downtown Phoenix and is just a gimmick as far as I can see. The mapping for the 3D is very old as the campus where I work has building that are about 7 years old that aren't shown. Roads in the city I live that are about 2 years old aren't shown either. I knew the mapping wouldn't be as good as Garmin but was hoping it was better than this. For the price I paid it should be good enough as bought this only to back up my smartphone in dead areas. Tom Tom 60 S / It's "OK"
Tom Tom still lends support for this item even though It's a factory refurb. That's a huge plus. If you sell it, the lifetime maps and traffic updates ARE transferable. Features are adequate, but NOT what I expected from a NEW model of Tom Tom. For example: (1), even with the brightness all the way up, the sun makes it hard to see the maps. My GO1516 didn't have this issue. My GO1516 was awesome with direct sunlight and glare. Tom Tom says they are looking into making a black back drop to help the map colors stand out more. They also reference that the "new" screen technology is much like the screens of new smart phones. You can't really see them very well in direct sunlight either. They openly admit the old technology, in regards to sunlight, such as found in the GO1516 touch screen, was much better. (2) Not a big issue, BUT, I really liked being able to see how many satellites my GPS was locked onto. That feature IS in the GO1516 BUT NOT in my NEW GO 60 S (that cost more). Come on Tom Tom, would it have caused you that much trouble to just leave that feature in the new firmware? I thought Tom Tom wanted to IMPROVE on the technology NOT STRIP AWAY features moving forward! (3) My OLD GO1516 allowed for my voice to SPEAK the address. My NEW GO 60 S does not. Funny thing is, for around $200.00 US Dollars, (WAY more cost than my old GO1516), YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT IT Tom Tom! I get you wan't an EXTORTION fee to upgrade to the GO600 to get voice back, BUT THIS NEW GO 60 S of mine again RETAILS for around $200.00 US DOLLARS! Tom Tom, ADD VALUE if your going to charge this kind of money. Don't take away great features and charge more. Do you WANT to STAY in BUSINESS? At the end of the day I give it 3 stars. (1) It works, no matter the inaccuracy compared to older units that cost less. (2) It's a refurb that I DIDN'T pay around $200.00 US dollars for. If I had paid that amount to find the features lost, I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED and for sure sought a FULL REFUND. BUT, less than $70.00 US DOLLARS and free shipping, I will keep it as a backup AND purchase another GO1516.Read full review

I love the size and sceen on this item. It can be replaced by my smart phone but it has a larger screen and added features that my phone doesn't come with. Works good and easy to use. I love the free updates and the fact it tells me when new maps are available.

Cheap/Not as good as the Garmin product
Got this for my wife, she hates it(to be fair, she hates all technology)so I stuck it in my truck and gave it a ride. I had used a Garmin product many times and this unit is not as easy to use. The map on the unit is not as detailed. I does work! Not a really nice, slick easy to use unit.

Big Upgrade, Small $
I have has a TomTom since 2007. I was acting flaky so I purchased the GO60S. It has a very large screen, much simpler menu system and I keep finding features that I did not know I was getting. It is so good I may buy more for the other cars rather than moving the GPS car to car.

Good unit needs to be louder
I have read the previous reviews and have downloaded the updates. The system is still very quiet I a a limo driver so volume is key. This unit is barely loud enough in my personal vehicle. Are there any plans for further volume updates or is there a way to connect a blue tooth earpiece so volume will not be an issue?

The navigator looked absolutely new, including packing of all subjects and wire in a box. It is written that it was refurbished, but in reality there is only one very small scratch on one letter in the word TomTom under the screen. Apparently, it fell during production or even some problems with the packaging of goods in the factory. And the company sells such navigators at a reduced price. Only positive feelings after buying and using. Buy it, guys. You won't be sorry.

Excellent GPS
This is my 3rd TomTom GPS and I've very happy with it. The screen is much larger and the graphics are excellent. This one uses Bluetooth instead of the older models which use USB cables to transfer maps. This new GPS is a big step forward.
