- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2016I complimented this awesome piece of tech with the best gigabit-capable cables because this bad boy truly has tremendous through-put delivery.
The only word of caution to people is that not every device is capable of a 5Ghz connection, so when your device fails connect, do NOT return this item before trying to connect that same device at 2.4GHz. Trust me, the delivery speed and reliability of this product is the best I've ever used.
If you want to get the most out of Satellite broadband, etc., then this is THE only router that I can recommend without reservation.
This Wi-Fi router replaced 4 other high end routers that just did not seem to be working with Satellite broadband. When you're rural and the speed is slow, you cannot lose any speed or you'll be at a standstill. The cables were great but it was the addition of this particular router that delivered the Wi-Fi connections as fast to EVERY connected device as the download speed from the satellite itself. I won't get into the testing, but needless to say, it was clearly obvious when using any device that this router left the other four in the dust.
This router offers the ability to set up multiple channels. It's easy to do and allows you to host Guest 5GHz and 2.4GHz channels as well as your own 5GHz and 2.4GHz channels.
Boots up quickly. More reliable than the broadband itself! LOL
Clearly, I do not have a need for Gigabit routing, but at some point, I will... and more importantly, I needed a router that gave me every bit of speed coming into it and could do that on every channel with every connected device. Hence, I purchased this one to test and kept it.
If you need a router, for any speed, I suggest THIS ONE, because it will not only work beautifully for getting the most out of the least, but it will be ready to go if you acquire a higher speed service connection.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2016The TP Link AC2600 is a great router. It provides excellent coverage for a 2,500+ sqft house, comes with a great user-friendly app and a nice interface to work with. Compared to the Archer C9 AC1900 router, it offers a much better 5GHz connection and has better penetration power vs. the C9. It's a very well priced router compared to the competition especially since it comes with MU-MIMO technology.
However, we had to return ours due to issues with the 5GHz connection. After a few days, a reboot was required to refresh the 5G connection and get it working again. We returned this router and purchased a Netgear X4S which works extremely well, too.
Besides the issues with the 5G network, this is a great option with great coverage and a good price. I did not try to work with tech support at TP Link but instead did my own troubleshooting yet with no luck. Perhaps we received a faulty unit. Give this router a try before you spend more. It's a great product.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2015Replaced an older N router with this beasty.
I like this router a lot in terms of its speed, reliability, and connection quality. I'm using a hardwired PC/media server, 3 laptops, 2 cell phones, FireTV stick and a couple other devices. Everything connected fine and is running better than it used to with the old router. The FireTV Stick in particular seems to have fewer issues with streaming and losing its network connection.
I did run into a few issues that keep my from giving it 5 stars though.
When trying to set the router up the 2.4Ghz wouldn't turn on. I had to drag another computer over to access the router and ended up having to hit the reset button on the side to get the 2.4Ghz radio to turn on after setting everything up. Even trying to turn both radios on and off from the software didn't work
Second, I didn't think the lack of an "auto update firmware" button would be a problem but I wanted to update to the current release and it was a bit of a hassle. Additionally, when updating the firmware, all the settings including username information, SSIDs, WPA keys and port forwarding I had already setup were lost and I had to put everything back the way it was before. Not a huge deal since I just done it but if I upgrade the firmware again in the future, trying to remember everything I changed will be a pain.
Finally, I don't know if I'm old and out of touch but I'm not a huge fan of their software. For example, Port Forwarding isn't called Port Forwarding, it's called "Virtual Servers." That's the first time I've heard that term used this way but it took me a while to figure it out. I also still haven't figured out if you can use this router as a VPN server. The user manual only references VPN in one place and it's a list of VPN protocols so maybe that's not a feature it supports which is why I can't find it.
All in all it's a better router than what I had but the features and terminology in the software are a bit lacking and making setting it up a bit cumbersome.
edit: 06-Dec-2015
I'm reducing my rating from 4 to 3 stars.
Hardware wise and connection wise I'm still very happy with this router but I'm very disappointed in the lack of features in the software considering the price.
First, there is no VPN server ability built into the router at this time. As someone who spends a fair amount of time on the road, being able to access my network remotely is incredibly useful. This was a feature that I had in my older, cheaper router this unit replaced.
Second, there is no VPN client ability built into the router at this time. For anyone who uses VPNs at home, this feature is a great way to mask the traffic for your entire network that doesn't require every client to be setup and configured. This was also a feature that I had in my older, cheaper router.
For anyone looking for a simple router that works well this is a good choice. For anyone looking for a router with more advanced features, steer clear of this model. It is severely lacking at the time of this review.
edit 19-Dec-2016
A commentor pointed out that you can setup this router as a VPN client under the Internet > Connection Type settings. Using that tip I was able to setup my router (and as a result my entire network) to access my VPN directly. However, I'm still leaving this review at 3 stars because this is something that should have been better explained in the manual or been more self evident within the router settings itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid performance and reliability, first TP-Link device and I am majorly impressed
Coming from a 6 year old, 2.4GHz single band, N300Mbps router, this certainly was a major speed and latency booster! I am getting a very strong signal even in the previously troublesome and slow corners of my home. The setup GUI page is very easy to go through, and also has an advanced tab for more in-depth settings. This is my first TP-Link device and it has been a very pleasant experience so far, I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a router, given the sales price of $128 it seems to be a very solid choice.
Pros:
- very easy to set up
- powerful 2.4 and 5.0GHz radios
- MU MIMO support for future proofing
- AC 1733Mbps for blazing speeds (although tested on my device that only supports up to AC1300)
- 5.0GHz is supposed to have less penetrating power since it is a higher frequency; however, it still reaches the far corners of my home (I assume it could be AC beamforming technology at work or the super strong radios)
- very low latency, I noticed much quicker response compared to my old router
- tested with 4k streaming over Netflix and YouTube over Chromecast and also direct with HDMI
- auto-night mode for turning off LEDs is a nice bonus, they actually are not obnoxiously bright either
- multiple devices being used at once have not bogged it down yet
- rock solid performance and reliability the first few days we had it, will update review if anything happens
Cons (mostly minor):
- large size, it's triple the size of my previous router (although it is light)
- power brick enough to charge a laptop, high power usage compared to older router
- 3 of the 4 antennas would not stay up straight, they click one slot back to around 80 degrees upright, seems to be manufacturing defect
- shipping packaging and protection is lacking, expected more for an expensive router
Additional note:
I was very unhappy that the router shipped with NO additional packaging around it, the shipping label was slapped directly onto the router's shrink wrap. The box came all beat up, shrink wrap half torn off, and with some water damage marks since it was pouring outside. There was a deep scratch in the router's plastic, from what I assume a bump against a sharp object that penetrated through the router's box, and probably what caused the shrink wrap to get cut. I know this is not the fault of the product itself and is a problem with the shipping/fulfillment center, so I have not taken any stars off for the rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars I heard TP-Link has really awful interface but it's a lot better than I heard
The signal is not very stronger than I thought. I wonder if beamforming really works as the signal in the downstairs is a bit stronger than my previous router which doesn't have 4 antennas. I heard TP-Link has really awful interface but it's a lot better than I heard. Very intuitive to use. I attached a 5TB HDD using it as a media server and it works really well. Sometimes, HDD is not recognized as SMB and, that case, just reboot your router. Network sharing and recognition are a lot quicker than my former router. And the huge thing is I paid only 140 bucks for this. I really love the router and the price!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Excelente router!
