A really great mouse, especially for the price but..

A really great mouse, especially for the price but..
I've had this mouse for over a year, and I loved it a lot. But recently it started to fail. During gameplay, the mouse will shut off, and it shuts off at suspiciously inconvenient times. I'll be reading something, and attempt to click something and it just shuts off for several seconds, it disconnects and reconnects. Seriously, when this keeps happening at exact moments, not even when I start to move the mouse as if I'm wiggling the loose cable, but even while I'm already moving the mouse it would turn off right before I get to click something. When you decide to attempt to accomplish something and the mouse gets in your way, it becomes to frustrating that you will start to wonder if this mouse came with some sort of malicious software! Isn't this mouse from China? And didn't they find trojans on cheap imported galaxy knockoff phones? I am suspicious of electronics from China. Look up phony electronics from china on youtube if you haven't already. Where the cable meets the mouse it's become loose and makes the light flicker a little. I'm not sure if the cable being loose is what causes me to disconnect, but from my personal experience it doesn't seem to be the whole story. So in conclusion, for a little over $15 dollars, the mouse performs really well and I have been satisfied with it for at least a year, but just remember that you're buying a product from CHINA. The End.

I ordered my UtechSmart 4000 DPI mouse a couple weeks back, and with 1-day shipping had received it in less than 24 hours. I chose the UtechSmart mouse over quite a few other options for a few reasons - the company had excellent reviews as far as customer service was concerned, the mouse offered all of the features I was looking for, and it's a great looking mouse.

First, a little bit of background...

The mouse came in a really nice looking box detailing its features and included a pass-through window to view the product inside - nice touch! Inside I found the mouse, a user manual, and a mini-CD with the installation software. But here's where things got tricky. The mouse installed correctly, or at least it was functional. However, the software couldn't communicate with the mouse to make use of the DPI/Color settings that it advertised. I messed around for a couple days trying various forms of installation and compatibility modes but no luck. After giving up, I contacted the UtechSmart customer service department and had a prompt response the next day. Without giving me the run-around about things I should try, they informed me that they had directed the issue to their engineering department who makes their chips and processors. A day later, they couldn't figure out what the issue was either.

This is where UtechSmart really stands out as an honest company - when in the 2 days they couldn't figure out what was wrong, they promptly sent out a brand new mouse for me to try, no questions asked. It arrived a day later and I am delighted to report that the new mouse/software combo worked perfectly and I was up and running within minutes. I was truly impressed with their customer service.

So now with a functional mouse and software, the review can continue!

    Aesthetics:

This was a big selling point for me. The mouse looks fantastic! It comes in a matte black finish that has a light texture to it. The exposed matte white becomes lit when the light functions are enabled. It just looks good, no getting around it. Top that off with the braided cord and you won't find a nicer looking mouse for this price.

    Functions:

The mouse has 6 programmable buttons and also supports keyboard macros for more complex button combinations. They are the left and right click buttons, the center wheel click, the DPI button right behind the center wheel, and a button on either side of the mouse. I have average sized hands and the two side buttons land perfectly beneath my thumb and ring finger respectively. The mouse wheel also has a rubberized coating on it, making it very easy to scroll precisely.

    Software:

The software was a little clumsy to navigate at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty straightforward. You have 4 different default DPI profiles, each one corresponds with a color. The backwards part is that you change the DPI for the color, versus the other way around. That is to say, pressing the DPI button cycles through the same order of 4 colors (red, violet, green and blue), but you can assign whatever DPI setting to whatever color you so please. You also have the option to adjust the pulse speed of the light, or you can choose to turn the lights off completely. The software also allows you to create and save profiles specific to different PC games, attaching a profile to your game's .EXE file so that the profile is automatically loaded when you start the game – great feature for gamers who play multiple games. Other than that, you have all of your basic mouse settings including double click speed, polling rate and clicker visibility.

    Overview:

After using the dud mouse for a week and now the replacement, I couldn't be happier. The mouse feels great in your hand, it works perfectly and looks great doing it. The only con I can think of would be the software, but for the price, I've got no complaints. The company stands by their products with an 18 month warranty, and offers great loyalty rewards programs. I would highly recommend this product for someone looking for an entry-level gaming mouse as it easily keeps up with competitors of the same and higher price ranges.

The mouse is good with decent features, but mine seems to glitch quite a bit. The mouse spontaneously stops working, moves tabs and windows around, does not register clicks, and freezes up. I have to use my other mouse to correct this through the drivers. I have suffered quite a bit in video games and standard use due to this. A gaming mouse should not be doing this. I think I have a defective product, but it could also be the drivers, which could certainly be better. Will not buy again and will return as this has persisted since initial plug in and there is no solution available to me.

I have a 12 year old sister that I introduced into PC gaming, giving her my M18x laptop. She's tiny, so I thought she wouldn't be able to handle all my weighted mice, and she couldn't. I was trying to find a high quality mouse for about $60 but I realized I only had about $30 left in Amazon. I came across this and did my research. I figured it would suit her, seeing that she wanted ANY gaming mouse.

I have to say, when it first came in, I wasn't that impressed. It came in an average looking mouse box. The mouse looked really cheap, as if it wasn't worth $25. But the rubberized frame of the mouse was comfortable. The wire is braided and it has plenty of basic colors for lighting. Since I only play 3200-3600 DPI, it was great for me. Tracking was superb, as I tested it on 3 mouse mats; SteelSeries Qck, Razer Goliath, and the stock Alienware mat. As you may know, the Razer Goliath is a terrible mat and I know from experience by testing a wide range of mice on it even after calibration. Razer's own mice don't even work on their Goliath. But this mouse was actually the only one that actually could. Even though it is laser precision, it tracks almost any surface. The only problem I had was that this mouse takes literally a minute to boot after plugging into a USB (Both 3.0 and 2.0) port. I checked in all my computers so it wasn't a faulty port, but the mouse USB itself.
I recommend this mouse for the average starters to PC gaming. You couldn't go wrong. Even I, as an extreme PC gamer, thought this was a rip off before ordering, but I regret ever saying so.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Qualità/prezzo ottima
Reviewed in Italy on February 18, 2015

A fine recensione metto sempre i PRO e i CONTRO
    PRO
    - Colori stupendi e luminosi

    Consigliatissimo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best budget gaming mouse EVER!
Reviewed in Canada on December 2, 2018
I bought this mouse as a replacement mouse for the one my son had broken. I wanted something relatively cheap, because an eight-year-old boy is going to break a mouse or two, right?!
After setting it up, installing the drivers, and UI, I was pleasantly suprised by how very well appointed the customisation UI is!
    You can set macros.
Change the speed of the breathing LEDs(or solid on/off) and color of the LEDs on the mouse.
The mouse function itself is very accurate, and much to my surprise, weighted very nicely!
I could not be happier with this purchase !!
I will continue to recommend, as I've already influanced a couple friends to purchase as a spare/back up.
